Oncology Consultants was incorporated in the summer of 1985. Our practice was originally designed as a multi-specialty oncology group encompassing both Medical and Radiation Oncology. Gynecologic Oncology was a welcome addition in 1988. Bone marrow transplant services began in 1990. Home Infusion Services was added in 1995 to support our patients who require services in their homes. In 2004, we expanded to include neuro-oncology.
We are proud to say that Joint Commission accreditation (JCAHO) was first awarded to our practice in 1995. This accreditation means that we have met or exceeded the national standard for providing the highest quality patient care.
In recognition of our role in caring for patients with oncologic as well as blood disorders our name was changed to Oncology Hematology Care (OHC) in the spring of 1997.
We currently have 44 physicians and 4 Nurse Practitioners in seventeen facilities located throughout southwestern Ohio, northern Kentucky and Indiana. Our facilities provide a variety of services including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, bone marrow biopsy, gynecologic services and diagnostic testing. We are committed to research and have many active protocols available to our patients. All of these services have enabled OHC to remain on the cutting edge of cancer care in the Midwest.
Medical Oncologists specialize in the use of chemotherapy drugs to treat cancer. While radiation and surgery are limited to specific areas of treatment, chemotherapy can treat widespread cancers by affecting the whole body. Chemotherapeutic agents attack and kill cancer cells, with the goal to cure or halt progression of the disease. Our medical oncologists often work with other sub-specialists, such as radiation or gynecologic oncologists, and combine treatments to maximize effectiveness.
Each treatment plan is unique and your medical oncologist will decide on the best path of care, often in consultation with radiation and/or gynecologic oncology physician partners.
